About

Hello and welcome to Small Space Great Taste, a place dedicated to delicious food.

My name is Shirin and I love to cook.  Food and family are the two most important things in my life… probably in that order, but don’t tell my family I said that.

I live with my long-suffering husband, my beautiful 17 year old step-daughter and my spirited 5 year old daughter.

Our family is a bit of a cultural melting pot; my husband is Irish (favourite meal: slab of meat and two veg), my step-daughter was born and raised in Belgium (steak tartare avec frites, s’il vous plaît), and my heritage is Parsi – a Persian/Indian mix (give me spice, a bit more spice and a large helping of chilli on the side).

I like to do my best to keep everyone happy by creating different recipes and adapting existing recipes to suit all our tastes.

Home is a small three bed semi in Hertfordshire. My kitchen is quite likely one of the tiniest you have ever seen.  It measures 2.2 x 3.5 metres and…wait for it… we do not have a dishwasher!  Yes, no space to move and no dishwasher.  But that’s never stopped me creating delicious meals for my family and friends.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’d love a big, well-equipped kitchen but that’s not likely to happen any time soon, so I do my best with the space I have.  And if I can do it, you can too.  Gorgeous food just requires good quality basic ingredients, a bit of time and some love.

Take a look for yourself.  And if you want to tell me what you think, you can contact me at:  info [at] smallspacegreattaste [dot] com.

Happy cooking!
